Fall 2009: Jason Wu

Since Jason Wu became famous overnight for designing First Lady Michelle Obama's stunning one-shouldered floral embroidered Inaugural gown, everybody and their mother wanted to attend his Fall 2009 runway show. They wanted to see what is so great about this skinny Asian designer?

Jason Wu was still catering to his polished Park Avenue clients. His theme was fairy tales. Some of the models even wore crystal tiaras. The collection was filled with gray, silver, navy and a burst of canary yellow. The silhouettes were flowing simple pieces and some were adorned with embellished beads.

I do have to admit that this was not my best collection by Jason Wu. I do have to applaud him for consistently using fabulous African-American models. It was beautiful but unlike Michelle Obama's Inaugural dress, I wasn't blown away!
