From a request from one of my wonderful readers, I had to give homage to one of the talented designers in the world. McQueen's death is a tragedy to the fashion world.
The designer comes from a modest background. His father was a taxi driver and his mother was a social science teacher. From the age sixteen, McQueen devoted his life to fashion. At age 21 he worked aside Romeo Gigli. He won the British Designer of the Year four times which gained him media attention establishing him as a young talented designer. In 1997, he was John Galliano successor for the couture house of Givenchy. In 2000 the Gucci line purchased a controlling interest in the McQueen line.
McQueen will always be known for his exquisite tailoring and innovative silhouettes. His Spring 2010 "Alien" collection was highly praise as being his best collection to date. He will truly be mourned by the fashion community.
